In Loving Memory of
Darbey's Enchanting Emily
Abigold's Queen of the Goldens
August 15, 1991 - May 26, 2005
My dear Emily Anne went to Rainbow Bridge on May 26, 2005 at the
age of 13 years, 9 months. She was deeply loved by everyone and will
be missed more than words can say.
I met Emily at Darbey Golden Retriever Kennel when she was 2 weeks
old. I visited her every 2 weeks until she was old enough to come
home with me. She was beautiful and confident and stayed that way
throughout her years. Emily came home to a family of four Goldens
– Sadie, Lucie, Megan, and Jill. (That was back in the days when
Abigold was small.) Emily had great conformation and a stunning blonde
coat that made everyone stop and notice her. She had a short show
career, winning her puppy class each time out. However, she didn't
like showing, and since I believe it is important that my fur kids are
happy, we didn't continue.
At a tender age, Emily decided that her goal in life was to be Alpha.
When she arrived on the scene, Lucie was the reigning "queen," having taken
over at Abby's death because Sadie had no desire to succeed her.
Lucie was "queen" until her death, when Megan took over. Emily occasionally
challenged each of them, but it was not her time. Jill was next in
line, but Jill was a gentle soul who did not crave power. She and
Emily had an understanding that Emily would be next in line after Megan.
When Megan was around 11 years old, she unexpectedly stepped down from
her alpha duties, allowing Emily to have the one thing she had always wanted
– she was FINALLY Queen of the Goldens! She was so happy! I
expected her to reign with an iron paw, but she was much less intense once
she had the crown. By then, there were many others in the Abigold
household, and she had the privilege of reigning over the entire group
of Goldens and even the two cat boys. She would look over each new
family addition when they arrived at Abigold, give a low growl and a little
hop toward them. As soon as they showed the "proper fear," she accepted
them and never gave them any trouble. One of her favorite things
to do was to make everyone line up behind her at the water bowl.
She would drink and drink, long after quenching her thirst, just because
she loved to make them all wait! I could almost see the smile on
her face as she wielded her supreme authority. Eventually the Shelties
came into the picture. Emily took Chelsea, the first Sheltie, into
her pack, but as more and more Shelties arrived, Emily decided these lightning-fast
creatures needed their own leader, so Chelsea became "Queen of the Shelties"
with Emily's blessing.
The love of Emily's life was not me. It was Andrew Mark.
Emily and Andy became inseparable companions early in life and remained
that way until the end. They were soul mates, who could read each
other's feelings and thoughts. They were like a little old married
couple as they got older. They took care of each other, as both were
getting old and developing health problems. On her last day, Andy
lay beside her, giving her comfort and reassurance. Then he got up,
gave her a kiss on top of the head, and walked away, letting her know it
was okay for her to go. It was understood that they would be reunited
someday at Rainbow Bridge.
My heart aches for my dear "Emmy Bear." And my only comfort
is to know in my heart that I will see her again. May God bless her
and keep her in His loving care.
And so, my beloved Emily, until then...
I'll love you ‘til the bluebells forget to bloom,
I'll love you ‘til the clover has lost its perfume,
I'll love you ‘til the poets run out of rhyme,
Until the Twelfth of Never and that's a long, long time.

In Loving Memory of
Mallaglow's Moonwind Megan, CGC, TDI,
Abigold's Grand Lady
June 28, 1989 - March 29, 2004
I am deeply saddened by the passing of my beloved Megan
Marie. She was a wonderful part of my life for 14 years and 9 months.
She was beautiful, brilliant, fun-loving, and loyal. She was a registered
therapy dog, and she taught obedience classes with me for many years.
May God bless her and keep her in His care until we meet again at Rainbow
Bridge.

For all my babies who have gone to The Rainbow Bridge
We cannot control the movement of time,
Nor can we control our own destiny
Or the destinies of those we love.
But we can take comfort in knowing
That those who have lived in our hearts
Are never really gone.
For as long as we keep them with us,
In our hearts and our thoughts,
They will be with us always.
For love, which is timeless
Never ceases to exist.
