REQUIRED VACCINATIONS (SHOW DATES OF MOST RECENT BOOSTERS)

(For Adults and Puppies) RABIES   .
Requirement: WV State Law requires this vaccination every 2 years.  This vaccination must be current within 2 years of the boarding dropoff date.  Puppies receive this vaccination between 3 and 6 months of age, and the vaccination is effective for 1 year only.  After the FIRST Rabies vaccination, BOTH adults (those with unknown vaccination histories such as rescues)  and puppies must be vaccinated again in 1 year before following the 2 year policy.

(For Adults) DHPP  .
Requirement: Your dog must be vaccinated every 2 years.  Due to possible adverse postvaccination reactions in puppies and some small breed dogs (Shelties in particular), the Leptospirosis vaccine can be removed and is not required for boarding.  When adults with unknown vaccination histories (such as rescues) are vaccinated for the FIRST time, they must be vaccinated a SECOND time 2-4 weeks later in order to have proper immunity for boarding.

REQUIRED EXAMS AND PREVENTATIVES

WELLNESS EXAM  .
Requirement: The most recent wellness exam must be within 1 year of the boarding dates.  All dogs should see their veterinarian for a wellness exam each year when they receive the Rabies or DHPP vaccinations.  We recommend that dogs 7 years or older see their veterinarian for a wellness exam every 6 months.  Blood testing is also highly recommended.

FECAL EXAM . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Results .
Requirement: The most recent fecal exam must be WITHIN 6 MONTHS of dropoff if the dog is NOT taking monthly heartworm preventative YEAR ROUND.  The most recent fecal exam must be WITHIN 1 YEAR of dropoff if the dog IS taking monthly heartworm preventative YEAR ROUND.  (The fecal exam is required once a year because not all intestinal parasites are eliminated by heartworm preventatives.)  The most recent fecal exam MUST BE NEGATIVE.  If the dog was treated for intestinal parasites, a follow-up fecal exam that is negative is REQUIRED before the dog will be accepted for boarding.

BRAND OF HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVE USED . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Used Year Round . . Yes . . . . No .
